The event will be following the State of Virginia's Safer at Home guidelines to keep participants safe. The event has been organized with staggered starts so that there will be no large gatherings and meets Virginia's Stage 2 & 3 Safer At-Home guidelines. All Aquathlon participants are required to choose a starting time so that we can socially distance participants in the pool with dedicated lanes and on the 5K course. The Pleasant Valley Pool is a premier outdoor pool in the Pleasant Valley Community. The facility provides aquatic recreation for all ages. For the little ones there is a dedicated kiddy pool to safely swim, splash and play in a their own shallow pool. The main pool consists of a large shallow area before heading into the largest section of the pool with eight lap lanes. And finally for those more adventurous there is a large deep area with a spring diving board!
The Pleasant Valley Pool is home to the Piranha's Swim Team. The Piranha's compete in Division 16 of the Northern Virginia Swim League and the Western Fairfax Developmental League. The members of the Piranha's develop confidence in the water through proper swimming techniques, gain team spirit by teaching discipline, responsibility and commitment, and of course have some fun!
The Pleasant Valley Recreation Association (PVRA) was established over 30 years ago to provide a first class facility and social functions for its members and their families in and around the Pleasant Valley subdivision in Chantilly, Virginia. Given the age of the pool there are a few capital improvements necessary to maintain this amazing aquatics facility. Unfortunately, pool memberships alone cannot cover the yearly maintenance and also the capital improvements. All proceeds raised from this event will go directly to improve the Pleasant Valley Pool to ensure it will provide fun and entertainment to the community for years to come. This year the PVRA hopes to raise enough funds to repair a pool leak that is driving maintenance costs up each season in additional water and chemical treatments. Thank you for supporting this amazing community resource!
The event starts/finishes at the Pleasant Valley Pool. The pool parking lot will be closed to vehicular traffic. Free parking is located throughout the streets of the Cub Run neighborhood. Please avoid parking on Cub Run Road between Louis Mill Drive and Bicentennial Court so that we can offer a clear start/finish area for our participants.
